In February 2017, Dean Emeritus Louis D. Bilionis spoke on “The Political Economy of Legal Education, Professional Formation Across the Law School, and the Central Importance of Career and Professional Development Staff,” at a symposium titled “The Next Steps of a Professional Formation Social Movement” held at the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also has authored a paper for the symposium that will be published in a forthcoming issue of the University of St. Thomas Law Journal.
In April 2017, Dean Emeritus Bilionis spoke on “Fulfilling the Promise of Legal Education: Professional Formation in the American Law School,” at a joint faculty-staff workshop at Santa Clara University School of Law, Santa Clara, CA.
In April 2017, Dean Emeritus Bilionis presented at the NALP (National Association for Law Placement) 2017 National Annual Education Conference in San Francisco, CA. He and co-presenters Mina Jones Jefferson, Kristen Uhl Hulse, and Neil W. Hamilton addressed an emerging model of professional formation for law students and young lawyer in a session titled “Priming the Pump: Producing Work Ready Graduates for Lawyer Size Professional Development.”
