On April 25, 2017, Associate Dean of Faculty and Professor Sperino was awarded the College of Law’s Goldman Prize for Excellence in Teaching.

She is a co-author on the new edition of Federal Discrimination Law in a Nutshell (w/ Player) (West 2017), which is now in print.

In May 2017, Professor Sperino presented her recent scholarship on the panel “Cutting Edge Issues in Employment and Section 1983 Cases” at the Federal Judicial Center Training for the Sixth Circuit.

Professor Sperino completed two book reviews: Book Review, Antigay Bias in Role-Model Occupations, ___ H.R. Quarterly ___ (forthcoming 2017) and Book Review, Extending Working Life for Older Workers: Age Discrimination Law, Policy and Practice, ___ Comp. L. Law & Pol. J. ___ (forthcoming 2017).

The Iowa Supreme Court recently cited four of Professor Sperino’s articles in Haskenhoff v. Homeland Energy Solutions, Inc., 897 N.W.2d 553 (2017). In a lengthy discussion about whether the state of Iowa should interpret its state statute to mimic federal law, several judges concurring in part and dissenting in part cited the following articles: Sandra F.
