Marianna is now a Life Member of the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference.

Marianna moderated a Panel Discussion, “Third in the Nation in Child Poverty: A Report Card for Change.”  The distinguished panelists were Elaine Fink, Attorney, Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati; Georgine Getty, Executive Director, Interfaith Hospitality Network; Kurt Reiber, President, The Freestore/Foodbank; and  Anthony Smith, Assistant Superintendent, Cincinnati Public Schools.  Read about it in:

Marianna attended the American Constitution Society Annual Convention in Washington, D.C.

Marianna posted 23 new entries this summer on her blog, Legally Speaking Ohio, where she provides insightful commentary on the happenings of the Ohio Supreme Court on varied topics, such as whether a law enforcement officer can also be a neutral magistrate; how evidence rules are used in a civil service hearing; whether a prosecutor in one county can bind the prosecutor in another county to a plea agreement; the Medical Malpractice Statute of Repose; the constitutionality of Ohio’s Smoke Free Workplace Act; whether a Federal judge can order the dismissal of a state mandamus action; the adequacy of notice in a foreclosure sale; medical malpractice fundamentals; governmental immunity for maintaining a municipal swimming pool; the invalidation of a deed restriction in the sale of an unused school building; the employer intentional tort; punishing juveniles who commit homicide offenses; and juror misconduct, mistrials, and double jeopardy.
