Congratulations to Janet who, in October won the Junior Scholarship Competition, an annual national competition sponsored by the Criminal Justice Section of the American Association of Law Schools (AALS).  Janet’s winning paper, a work-in-progress titled Dangerous Hope:  Oppositional Politics in Criminal Law and Procedure, will be recognized the Criminal Justice Section luncheon during the AALS annual meeting, which will take place in January 2013 in New Orleans.

 

Dangerous Hope also was accepted for presentation at a workshop held during the annual Fall Institute jointly sponsored by the Criminal Justice Sections of the ABA and AALS and the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law.  The workshop included junior and senior law faculty from around the country.  This year’s ABA-AALS-ISRCL Institute took place in October in Washington D.C.  Participants at the Institute included leading national and international scholars, practitioners, and government officials in the field of criminal law and procedure.

 

Janet presented a revised draft of Dangerous Hope and participated in a number of additional scholarly workshops at the annual conference of the Central States Law Schools Association, which was held  at Cleveland-Marshall Law School in October, and at the Junior Scholars’ Workshop hosted by the Michigan State University College of Law in November.  Each of these events involved scholars from around the country.
